Every church has at least one family without a pastor. When pastors and their families need a pastor where do they go?

Dr. John W. Smith

Dr. John W. Smith was born and raised in a loving Christian family in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University, his Masters of Divinity from Western Theological Seminary, and his Doctor of Ministry from California Graduate School of Theology. Dr. Smith served for twenty three years as the pastor of New Life Community Church in Sayville, Long Island, NY.

For the first eight years he served as Associate Pastor, followed by fifteen years as Senior Pastor. His pastoral ministry journey includes wonderful favor, incredible blessings, spiritual and emotional growth, deep wounding, inner healing, forgiveness, restoration, and transformation. He gives God all the glory and praise!

On January 6, 2002 God called Dr. Smith to leave New Life Community Church and go to a new thing He would show him. Dr. Smith embraced God’s call and made it official with the Vice President of the Board that same day. On February 17, 2002, God gave him a new calling and vision to become a pastor to pastors and their families. For more than a decade, Dr. Smith has have been living out his calling and passion to come alongside pastors, spouses, ministry leaders and families as a confidential coach and encourager.

Dr. Smith uses the term “Confidential Coaching,” to describe the service he provides to pastors and their families. He embraces the unique way God has wired him. He enjoys initiating contact with pastors and making “house calls.” He lets the pastor choose the meeting place where the pastor feels safe and comfortable. When possible, he even travels some distance to meet with the pastor and family on their turf. Another unique feature is that Pastor John becomes friends with the pastors and families he coaches. It is normal for Pastor John to develop long lasting relationships with the pastors he coaches. See the Services page for more details.
